• PS 54 Celebrates World Read Aloud Day with Community Leaders

  At PS 54, our students—and community—came together to celebrate the joy of reading on World Read Aloud Day! Local leaders, volunteers, and special guests joined classrooms throughout the school to share stories, spark curiosity, and model a lifelong love of literacy. From powerful picture books to meaningful conversations, the day emphasized the importance of reading aloud as a way to build confidence, deepen comprehension, and strengthen connections across our school community. We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s celebration memorable and inspiring for our young readers!

• Chip & Paint Night

  Join us for a fun and creative evening of painting, snacks, and community! Chip & Paint Night is a guided, step-by-step painting experience led by an Illuminart teaching artist. Participants will enjoy a relaxed, welcoming environment while creating their own artwork to take home.

  All art supplies are provided, along with complimentary light snacks and pizza. This event is perfect for unwinding, expressing creativity, and connecting with others through art.

  📅 Dates: February 25, 2026 & March 25, 2026
  🕔 Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  📍 Location: 715 Ocean Terrace, Building A, 2nd Floor – Hall of Science
  🎟️ Registration required (limited to 125 attendees per event)

• 🎨 Paint Night at P.S. 54!

  All 3rd–5th grade students and families are invited to join us for a free Paint Night on Tuesday, March 3, from 3:00–5:00 PM with special guest artist Jose Mendez. Students will enjoy a fun, hands-on art experience and take home their own masterpiece—no experience needed!

  ✨ Spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  To register, please sign and return the permission slip to your child’s teacher by 2/13/26. If more slips are returned than spots available, participants will be selected through a raffle.

• 🌍 PS 54 Climate Action Day – Reduce Energy Use - Wednesday, February 4

  P.S. 54 is proud to participate in Climate Action Day by focusing on ways we can reduce energy use and help care for our planet.

  On this day, our school community will work together to conserve energy by:

  • Turning off lights when they are not in use

  • Powering down computers and smartboards

  • Using natural light whenever possible

  • Closing doors and windows to save energy

  Saving energy helps protect our Earth, keeps our air clean, and creates a healthier future for everyone.

  Together, we can make a big difference—be a climate hero! 🌱💡

  Dreaming of a World Full of Kindness
  Students are encouraged to wear cozy pajamas as we dream big about kindness and caring for others.

  Tuesday, February 10
  Team Up Against Cyberbullying
  Students are encouraged to wear their favorite sports jersey to show teamwork and standing together against cyberbullying.

  Wednesday, February 11
  Friends Around the World
  Students are encouraged to wear colors that represent their culture to celebrate diversity and inclusion.

  Thursday, February 12
  Be a Hero
  Students are encouraged to wear a shirt or dress like their favorite superhero to highlight acts of kindness and bravery.

  Friday, February 13
  Have a Heart for All
  Students are encouraged to wear anything with hearts or clothing that is pink or red to show love and respect for all.
