My Sister's Keeper

My Sister's Keeper empowers young women to make a difference by helping to address issues facing families in their local community. When students take initiative to help solve community issues this prepares them to become college and career ready. For example, MSK members hosted a fundraiser called "Project Warm Coats". This philanthropic endeavor afforded the girls the opportunity to create and design bracelets they sold to the P.S. 54 school community. Proceeds were used to purchase coats and jackets for South American migrants affiliated with the non-profit organization, Project Hospitality. Students are happy when they enter our school building each morning and enjoy learning.

My Brother's Keeper

In essence, the My Brother's Keeper Initiative at PS 54 for grades 4 and 5 is more than just an educational program; it's a holistic approach to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also socially conscious and empowered members of their community. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, and community engagement, this initiative aims to inspire a lifelong love for learning and a commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
