Student of the Month/BUZZ Award
At P.S. 54, we believe in recognizing and celebrating the positive actions, achievements, and character of our students. Each month, we honor students who model our school values through the Student of the Month and BUZZ Award programs.
These recognitions highlight students who show strong effort, positive behavior, and leadership both in and out of the classroom.
Student of the Month
Each month, teachers and staff select a Student of the Month based on a combination of academic effort, responsibility, and positive behavior.
Students selected as Student of the Month:
- Show consistent effort in their learning
- Demonstrate responsibility and respect
- Serve as positive role models for their peers
Students who receive this recognition reflect the values we strive to build at P.S. 54 and help create a strong and supportive school community.
BUZZ Award
The BUZZ Award recognizes students who consistently demonstrate our school-wide expectations:
- B – Be Respectful
- U – Use Your Voice
- Z – Zip into Teamwork
- Z – Zone into Listening
Students who earn the BUZZ Award show kindness, cooperation, and respect in their daily interactions. They go out of their way to support classmates, work well with others, and make positive choices throughout the school day.
The BUZZ Award celebrates students who help make P.S. 54 a welcoming and positive place for everyone.
Selection Process
Students are nominated by teachers and staff who observe them across different settings, including the classroom, hallways, and school activities. Nominations are reviewed, and students are selected based on consistent positive behavior, effort, and alignment with school expectations.
