After School Programs

We are excited to announce that P.S.54 is hosting  after-school programs that will provide our students with many different opportunities.

 Each after school program will run from 2:20-4:00 for 6 weeks. There will be NO bus. If your child attends latchkey, they will be returned there at 4pm when the program ends. You must pick your child up at P.S.54 at 4:00 pm promptly.

Tuesdays: 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/14, 11/21

Coding- 2nd & 3rd Grade

Explore, Play, Create! Learn to make your own game, app, or computer drawing. Learn the basics of computer science and create your own art, stories and games using Code.org. Create programs with sequencing, loops, and events. At the end of the course, create your very own game or story you can share!

Cheer- (Grades 3,4,5)

Got the Spirit? We want to hear it! Learn basic cheer skills like motions,jumps, cheers, and dances, play “team bonding” games and show your school spirit. This is a great way to get some exercise and try out a new fun sport! We can’t wait to cheer with you!

Wednesdays: 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15

BEGINNER Basketball - 4th & 5th Grade 

Introduction to basketball for BEGINNERS (skills, drills, learning the fundamentals of the game, some live gameplay situations). This session would best be suited for children who have interest in basketball but have not yet had any experience playing organized basketball. 

Modern Band- 4th & 5th Grade

Modern Band teaches students to play, perform, improvise, and compose using popular music. Modern band will focus on genres like rock, pop, Latin, rap, R&B, country, and more with an immersive approach that empowers students to start playing on day one using instruments like drum set, keyboard, guitar, electric bass, and voice!

Kindergarten Art

Let's work on developing your fine motor skills while engaging with our peers. Students can express their creativity while learning how to stimulate their imagination and problem-solving skills. We will work on group art projects and fun themes with various art materials. We will  use a hands-on approach to make playdough and create 3D models to express their creativity. Some ideas are: salt art, ice painting, collage with various items, spray painting with spray bottles, fluffy paint, watercolors painting. 

Thursdays: 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16

EXPERIENCED Basketball- 4th & 5th Grade

Gameplay situations for EXPERIENCED players (Live gameplay such as 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5). This session would best be suited for children who have some or a lot of experience playing organized basketball games.
