• 2025–2026 UAU COMPASS Afterschool Program Registration is OPEN! 9/1/25

  To Register, Complete BOTH Steps Below: Applications will only be reviewed if BOTH steps are

  completed.

  STEP 1: Online Application via Discover DYCD

  1. Go to the Discover DYCD website: CLICK HERE

  2. Create an account (or log in if you already have one).

  a. IMPORTANT: If you already have an account, please check and update your child’s grade to

  reflect the 2025–2026 school year.

  i. Grades do not update automatically from year to year.

  3. Click "Youth & Afterschool Programs".

  4. In the Program Search bar, type the name of your child’s school.

  5. Click “Add to List” for the appropriate program.

  6. Complete the application and click “Submit.”

  STEP 2: Submit a Valid Medical Form

  ● Download and print the required Medical Form: [Medical Form – CLICK HERE]

  ● Have your child’s doctor complete all sections, including:

  ○ Immunizations

  ○ Doctor’s signature and stamp

  ○ Date of examination (must be within 1 year of the program start date)

  Submit the completed medical form via email only:

  Email to: Layna Brady, Program Director

  Do not drop off forms at the school.

  Important Reminders

  ● Both application and medical form must be received to be considered.

  ● Applications are numbered in the order they are completed (first-come, first-served).

  Program Details

  ● Start Date: September 22, 2025

  ● End Date: June 12, 2026

  ● Schedule: Monday–Friday | 2:20-6:00 PM

  Attendance Requirement

  ● Children must attend at least 3 days per week

  ● Full program hours required — no early pickups allowed

  Mandatory Parent Orientation

  ● A parent/guardian must attend orientation before the program begins

  ● Date and details will be emailed to accepted families (week of 9/8)

  Please Note: Submitting the online application(via DYCD) and Medical (via email) does NOT guarantee

  enrollment in the UAU COMPASS Program.

  If accepted, you will receive a confirmation email from your UAU Program Director by 9/15.

  If placed on the waitlist, you will receive an email notification.

• Exciting News! - PS 54 has a new free after-school program. Please see the flyer below & look out for more information when the school year.

  Dear Parents/Guardians of PS54 Students in Grades K-5,

  As you may have seen in the Staten Island Advance and on Social Media, PS54 has received a free after-school program from New York City.  This program is part of the COMPASS Program and will be managed by United Activities Unlimited, (UAU.)  This program will replace our Latchkey Program.

  Detailed information will be provided about this program when school begins.  However, below are some important points that we would like to share with you.  Please see each bulleted point below:

  • The UAU program will not begin on the first day of school.  At this time, UAU is going to begin in mid-September.  Please make child-care arrangements if you need after school care during the first few weeks of school.

  • UAU will send out a link to all parents in the upcoming weeks.  Enrollment is on a “first come, first served” basis.  The maximum number of students that can be enrolled in UAU at PS54 is 120. 
  • PS54 will send out a message that the UAU link will be sent out.  Please carefully watch your e-mails.
  • The UAU Program will run from 2:20 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.

  More information about the UAU will be sent out during the first few days of school.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Maria Titolo at 718-698-0600, extension 1340.   We are looking forward to working with UAU this school year.
